Automate your text work? Easy! Use GPT-3 by OpenAI
Have you ever noticed how much time we spend reading articles and documents? How much time is spent writing a formal text that is difficult to formulate and then check grammar?
During the working day we do this unconsciously, not paying attention to the fact that 80% of the information from documents, articles and other sources does not give us any substantive information, and only 20% is the key. And I wondered how we could significantly reduce that time by reading only what is really important 20% of the key information.
And I found a solution. The AI will help us with this. Called the GPT-3 from OpenAI.
GPT-3 is the most complex and extensive language model in existence. It can take in commands that we write in human language, and give us the right answer in the output. And you know, I have done many tests with it and the answers are really impressive. Now I’ll show you some examples.
I ask you to write me the best pizza recipe.
Now let’s ask you to do something really useful. Let’s take Paul Graham’s essay and ask him to make a sammari of it.
And yes, it works! And it works very well. We can even control the number of sentences.
What else can the GPT-3 do?
This tool, to my mind, can do lots and lots of things.
- Grammar corrector;
- Create and translate SQL queries;
- Parse unstructured data;
- Python to natural language;
- Translate from one program language to another;
- Explain code;
- Ad creator;
- Python bug fixer;
- From JS to Python;
- Python docstring creator;
- Notes to summary;
- Interview questions by roles.
Now imagine how much time it would save you if you used at least some of these features on a regular basis.
Why do we need it?
We unconsciously spend a lot of our time on things that not only can be automated, but need to be. And such a thing is word processing. Every day we review and write tons of different text, different meaning — and we spend a huge amount of our resources on it. But as I said earlier 20% of it is important and key information. And the GPT-3 makes our lives a lot easier because it helps us separate the key from the rest.
How do install it?
I use GPT-3 as a plugin in Logseq.
First, download Logseq onto your computer. Next, open the «Plugins» tab and look for GPT-3 from OpenAI.
After that, you need to register on the OpenAI website to get an API key. This key should be entered in the plugin settings in Logseq.
Once everything is ready — you can use it for your work. Just write the command and add «/gpt-3» and it will work.
We live in the 21st century, when people should make the most of their potential. Working with text and documents is a past age, we should not waste our mental faculties and resources on routine work. That’s what AI should be working with.
